filary collection

The DelBrenna Filary Collection is one of the very first collections DelBrenna ever produced. Inspired by the intricate design of our original Links chain, the name comes from "filar," an adjective relating to a thread or a line. Even in Italian, "filare" means spinning, that is, the art of making threads and weaving fabrics. A very similar process is what we use to build our iconic chains, weaving, and connecting every single link element by hand.
The Filary Collection was born by a great design intuition: wrapping our Links chain around an antique coin, found by Sebastian at Arezzo's Antique Fair. Sebastian gave the first Filary coin pendant to Megan. She proudly wears it from time to time and still receives so many compliments on the original design—a part of Megan's private collection, one of the most cherished pieces in her jewelry box!

the filary coins: our endless love for italy

At DelBrenna, we deeply cherish our Italian roots, and we celebrate them through our Filary Coins Collection.
Most of our coins are replicas of antique coins and Lire. The lira was Italy's currency between 1861 and 2002. The frame, featuring our signature Links chain, the family icon, makes them even more unique and dear.
Some Filary Collection coins are polished and sparkly; some are 24K gold plated, then antiqued. And if you want to wear a distinctive Italian touch, opt for one of our oxidized coins, or "green coins." Their green patina takes inspiration from the antique bronze statues you can find all across Italy. Every coin is a little different, as they are antiqued one by one in our studio.

Wear Italy around your neck, and keep it in your heart.

"Your coins are so special to me. When I wear my charm/coin, I rub it continuously throughout the day & feel so much Italian pride and connection!" -Maureen Petricca

YOUR KEEPSAKE, OUR design

What is unique about this particular Filary Coin Pendant? The custom coin design was requested by a British origin client, with a sweet story behind it.

In Britain, the bride traditionally wears "Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue." But what is less well known is that the rhyme ends "and a silver sixpence in her shoe." For many years, the bride's father would slip a sixpence into his daughter's shoe before she walked down the aisle. The sixpence stood for good luck, showing that the father wished his daughter prosperity in her marriage.

DelBrenna was able to build a pendant to hold the sixpence the bride had carried in her shoe on her wedding day. It is now a moment that will forever magnify the wedding memories by being worn to celebrate those special moments in an heirloom-quality keepsake.

Commission your customized DelBrenna design. Provide us with your antique coin or with a unique gemstone, and we can build a custom-made, Filary frame to embellish it.
A bespoke piece made just for you in silver 925% or 18K gold, to be cherished forever.

LIMITED EDITION COINS

If you are looking for a unique piece, inquire about one of our original coins. We often browse vintage markets in Italy and find unique old coins. Then, we design and proudly convert them into a DelBrenna pendant by adding our tailor-made signature chain frame. From time to time, we have Limited Edition Coins in our shops, really exceptional, vintage pieces. And because there are never two real coins that look precisely the same, your pendant will be unique forever!
As an example, admire this antique copper coin "5 Baiocchi," framed by our signature chain in sterling silver 925. Dated 1850, it carries the Papal coat of arms associated with Pope Pius IX.

filary gemstones Collection

Not only coins but also gemstones. One day, after our Filary Coins collection's success, we started wrapping our links chain around colorful, natural gemstones, and the "Filary Gemstones" Collection was born!
The combination of the old-style, Italian allure of the frame, with the gemstones' liveliness and brightness, rapidly turned the Filary Gemstones collection into one of the most loved DelBrenna collections of all time.
We have recently updated our Filary Pendant by adding a fixed bail on top, which easily slides over most DelBrenna chains and gives the piece a modern look. More gemstones have been added to the collection (prasiolite, moonstone, rose quartz, mother of pearl, to mention a few), but our favorites remain the first ones ever created: blue topaz, citrine, and amethyst. We are in love!

filary rings

Understandably, the most iconic DelBrenna ring ever is the one that features a round, briolette-cut gemstone embellished by our iconic 3mm links chain. Two sizes are available: 8mm gemstones for small rings that blossom like a flower, or 10mm gemstones for a brighter contrast, to be sure they make an impact on your finger!
